Preet Shah - President
Being in grade 12, Preet has always loved being in different types of programs. These programs include band, hockey, soccer, and volunteering. In whatever program he is part of, Preet likes to stay committed and put in his very best. Through these programs and activities, Preet has learned what it means to be a true leader: someone who helps guide a group while noticing that every person is unique and has their own opinions that need to be heard. Along with that, he has also devolved great leadership, problem solving, and organization skills. By using these skills, he is able to guide the group to a successful and bright future and ensure that it reach its greatest potential.
Aravind Segu - Finance
Aravind Segu, our Vice President of Finance, is a Grade 12 International Baccalaureate student attending Henry Wise Wood Senior High School. Since this is his second year in the Junior Achievement program as the VP of finance, he has a strong grasp of the expected outcomes. His exposure to the financial side of the JA program provides him with ample experience to deliver a smooth performance this year. He is planning to achieve this by updating the financial status every two weeks, and sharing it with the group, allowing everyone to be aware of the company’s financial status. He believes that collectively amendments can be made to keep the financial status at a healthy and prosperous level. Second, he will strive to keep the Break Even Point for the product as low as possible allowing company members to cross the point by selling minimal units and enabling the company to start making profit quickly. In addition, he wants to have minimal fixed and variable costs, as this will enable the company to price its products competitively. Aravind is a great public speaker- placing him in city tournaments. He is involved in many extracurricular activities, like Air Cadets, and piano, which have taught him the precious skill of time management. He also has an excelling mark in Math and hopes to bring all these skills together and keep the financial status at a healthy and prosperous level for ScentSation.
Aalap Parikh - Production
His second year in the role, Aalap Parikh is the VP of production. A studious individual, Aalap works hard and efficiently to meet goals and deadlines. His prior experience as the VP of production allows him to bring refined skills and abilities to the production sector of the company. With experience studying abroad, as well as studying in the IB program, Aalap also brings a unique international perspective to the company. Currently in grade 12 at Henry Wise Wood high school, Aalap looks to pursue chemistry in the future.
Jana Janevska - Marketing and Sales
Jana Janevska is the Vice President of Marketing and Sales. This is her second year in Junior Achievement, and she is also a part of the JA Ambassador Team this year. She designed the logo for her company, Lumiere, last year, and actively participated in every meeting with a 90% attendance average. She was awarded the Spirit of the Year award last year, in recognition to her persistent effort. Jana is a prepared and organized individual that always has a vision in mind and is able to tolerate risk, and use quick wit to resolve issues. Jana is interested in the business world, and has gained skills from her Company Program experience to take her interest a step further and study business. She is an enthusiastic individual, that brings energy to the group, and puts effort in any task she is given. Jana’s experience and character made her a strong candidate for the executive position, and she looks forward to her last year in Junior Achievement.
Vandit Patel - Information and Technology
Vandit Patel is the Vice President of Information and Technology; this is his first year in the Junior Achievement program. He is currently in grade 12 and attends Henry Wise Wood High School. He lives an active lifestyle, participating in multiple clubs and programs while also working part time. He is a proactive individual who is always looking for new ways to help his company. Although he does not have previous JA experience, he knows that his previous experience with the Python programming language and expertise with technology will help guide his company to a better online experience for them and their customers. After this year with JA, Vandit looks forward to moving East and joining the Computer Engineering program at Waterloo. In the future he hopes to start his own IT business and is thankful to JA and the rest of the ScentSation team for giving him the chance at being the Vice President of Information and Technology.
Garret Leong - Human Resources
Garrett Leong is the Vice President of Human Resources. He has received one previous year of experience in JA and this is his last year in the company program. He was a primary member of the production team and assisted in many of the trade venues for Lumiere in the 2014-2015 fiscal year. He leads an interpersonal, social lifestyle and is keen to be the problem solver when issues arise within the company. Furthermore, he strives to be more than simply a fellow employee to the other members of the company, and to create relationships that will aid in the collective success of ScentSation. Junior Achievement has, and continues to provide, constant learning experience for him to utilize as he hopes to secure a spot in the Haskayne School of Business commerce program at the University of Calgary. Garrett believes that his personality and strengths make him properly suited to his role as an executive, and he’s excited to see where the year takes him.
Kairvee Bhatt - Health, Safety and Environment
Kairvee Bhatt is Vice President of Environment. She is an international baccalaureate student. She previously participated in Oberon’s Garden and played a key role in marketing. Kairvee actively takes part in the school’s environment club and has dedicated her time to raise awareness for environmental causes and to reduce the school’s ecological footprint. To date the club has raised over $1500, which has been matched by the CBE to fund the installation of energy efficient water fountains and begun work on a community garden. She brings steadfastness, determination, diligence and the ability to work under high pressure to the company; she is a natural leader and has been chosen as team captain of her school and club soccer teams as well as. She hopes to get her Bachelor of Science degree and continue her education with an executive MBA. Kairvee’s devotion to her company and commitments as well as her tenacity has allowed her to work well with her peers.
